And yet, the DBS possesses the understated presence and grace befitting this standard-bearer of British automotive design on the world stage, inviting admiring glances wherever it’s observed. Here in a stealth Onyx Black paintwork with gloss carbon-fibre exterior pieces and gloss black wheels, its contemporary specification accentuates the considered lines of the DBS which is rightfully recognised as the high point of modern Aston Martin GT design.

Dynamics too, have been honed over its V12 siblings – the increase in power and torque necessitated an all-new transaxle ZF 8-speed gearbox with torque sent rearwards via a carbon fibre propshaft. Meanwhile, a mechanical limited-slip differential and adjusted bias demanded bespoke 305/30 Pirelli P Zero rears to handle the increased power, with track widths also up by 10mm and 20mm at the front and rear respectively, as well as a tweaked and stiffer lateral roll.
