More:
The Aston Martin DBS has rightly established itself as one of the most highly regarded models of the Gaydon production era. Announced at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, the DBS replaced the 2004 Vanquish S as the flagship of the marque. The DBS already offered an intoxicating mix of power and luxury, but the Carbon Black Edition added exclusivity into the mix.
The Aston Martin DBS Carbon Black Edition is a special edition of Aston’s DBS that launched in 2010 with supply limited to just one car per dealer, this car is of the rarest DBS variants produced, just 157 Carbon Black coupes were built and sold over a period of 21 months with only 50 of these being Right-Hand Drive.
The Carbon Black Edition DBS is coated with several layers of carbon black metallic paint that takes 50 man-hours to apply and results in an exceptionally deep luster. In addition the exterior is complimented by handsome 10-spoke gloss black and diamond-turned alloy wheels and, as the name suggests, carbon fibre is a recurring theme, with the wing mirrors and rear light clusters infused, the centre console, paddles belonging to the six-speed Touchtronic gearbox also get the carbon fibre treatment.
The cabin is swathed in Obsidian Black leather, which is hand stitched with silver thread complimented by the centre console finished in piano black. The front seats are carbon fibre and kevlar and save 17kg over the standard items. Audio is also upgraded to the sublime, bespoke Bang & Olufsen set-up. 2+2 seating, a quilted leather-lined headliner, custom tread plates, unique sill plaques, and auto-dimming rear-view mirror complete the interior.
The V12 engine from the DBS produces 510 bhp, can reach 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds, and has a top speed of 191 mph. Aston Martin’s high level of refinement has meant wind noise is well suppressed, and the big V12 is vocal when you want it to be and near-silent the rest of the time. Along with an excellent ride it makes for a formidably able long-distance tourer.
