The Ferrari F430 was "designed to be an alchemy of state-of-the-art technology, performance and desirability". Penned by legendary designer Frank Stephenson, the F430 was a more dynamic design than its predecessor, more hard-edged, yet maintaining the sensuality required of the iconic Ferrari mid-engined, 8-cylinder bloodline from the normally aspirated era, which ended with the subsequent 458 Italia.

The sharper F430 has distinguishing new design features from each viewpoint; the more pronounced shoulder line and increased tumblehome (inward slant of the vehicle's glasshouse) to improve stance, the re-interpreted nostrils reminiscent of the 1961 ‘sharknose’ F1 car at the front and the twin rear lamps peaking above the surface of the rear.

Perhaps the most memorable variant will be the bolt-action gated manual whose origins can be traced back to Ferrari competition cars of the forties. Even in today’s DCT era, where focus is more on performance, a gated box is still a much-adored feature that is held in high regard for other reasons, not just for its arresting aesthetic but particularly for the enhanced driver experience and that famous and satisfying 'click clack' that accompanies each gear change.
