1978 Porsche 911 RSR Recreation

Possibly the ultimate road and track toy. Fresh from a recent UK MOT test and together using the German documents supplied with the sale this vehicle is now ready for UK road (if required) registration. As the original date of manufacturer was over 40 years ago, this iconic 911 is useable in ULEZ restricted areas without any penalty!

The new owner will experience a complete trackside handover and also have access to one of our ARDS accredited race instructors, should you need it!

The mechanical fuel-injected engine has been upgraded modified with, dual ignition and flat side valves to produce a healthy 300hp. The clutch cylinders have been replaced and our aluminum engine mounts have been fitted at the rear. The bodywork in Viper Green paint is in excellent condition. The extra panels grafted to make the RSR look are welded to perfection showing no seams at all. The wheels are a stunning set of 3-piece BBS items which are 9.5x17 at the front and 11.5x17 at the rear. The Kumho tyres have approximately 2-3mm tread remaining. The electrical system has been revamped with switches on the dash including a start button, fan switch, two switches for the fuel pumps, a light switch as well as an emergency stop switch. The battery connections have also been bolted in place. Inside you’ll find an interior that gives a perfect race car feel, with a full roll cage, OMP seats, a 350mm quick-release Momo steering wheel, and then finished off with a lovely Stack electronic rev counter. The fit and finish of the modifications are excellent and it’s obvious that it has been built by professionals The dual-spring suspension is from H&R, with the front struts being 10mm higher to replicate the setup you’d find in a genuine RSR. The rear springs have been set up so that there’s no need to dismantle the shock absorber in order to remove them. The front uniball strut bearings have been mounted eccentrically and the 23mm uniball rear stabilisers have uniball mounts. The steering gear, rear brakes and main brake cylinder are all from a 911 Turbo, as well as a set of modified 964 driveshafts. For an extra audible sensation, there is a set of megaphone straight-through pipes included in the sale.

Condition

The original underside protection was removed so the body could be bead blasted and then professionally treated and painted. The axle guides were also bead blasted and all chassis parts have been coated in polyethylene plastic. The build quality on this car is impeccable to produce an extremely competent road and track car. The car is in excellent condition, with the only marks noted through our appraisal being the very light stone chipping, some stone chips to the wheels.

History

There is a very comprehensive build and history file to validate the work that has been undertaken to produce this ultimate classic Porsche road/track vehicle which will represent excellent value as the build cost is considerably more than the reserve price we have.
